みなす【見做す】

*regard

|他|〖D〗 〖S〗 ［SVO as C］ O(人・物・事)を(外見から)…とみなす， 考える《◆(1) C は名詞・形容詞・前置詞句など. (2) 進行形不可》

I regard the discovery as of little value. 私はその発見をほとんど無価値だとみなしている.

*consider

They presume him to be dangerous. ＝They presume that he is dangerous. 彼らは彼を物騒な人間だとみなしている《◆ it を主語にした受動態 It is presumed that he is dangerous. は堅い表現》.

●試合の棄権を負けと見なす consider disqualification in a contest as a loss

・仕事場を戦場と見なす compare one's workplace to a battlefield.

●20 分以上の遅刻は欠席と見なす. A twenty-minute tardiness is considered as an absence.

・証拠不十分と見なされた. The evidence was deemed inconclusive.

・結婚した未成年者は成年に達したと見なされる. Married minors are considered to have attained their majority.
